Hercules® Sealing Products is pleased to introduce our new line of PowerbandTM tight tolerance premium wearrings. Manufactured from a highly engineered blend of premium nylon, glass fiber, and PTFE, PowerbandsTM offer a high strength wear-ring for all cylinder applications, including those with minimal lubrication. And, with a Coefficient of Friction nearly 50% lower than our standard product, your cylinders will run smoother and more efficiently than ever. All PowerbandsTM are fully machined with cross-section tolerances of only ±0.001”, chamfered corners, and scarf or angle-cut end gaps. Compared to standard tolerances of ±0.0025”, this tightened tolerance improves the alignment and concentric operation of cylinder rods and pistons. The fully machined chamfered corners will better accommodate cylinder housing grooves, further improving piston and rod alignment. Lastly, the scarf-cut end gap reduces the loss of bearing support that may occur during cylinder side-loading. When combined, these features reduce the tolerance stack-up within the components of the cylinder. As a result, your cylinders will operate more consistently and be capable of operating at higher pressures and higher side loads than with standard wear-ring products. Furthermore, with this improved cylinder operation, your seals will last longer and the life of your cylinder will be extended. Utilizing the same profiles as the Style 800 Polyurethane U-Seal line, these u-seals are molded from a fluorocarbon, compound. While being compatible with a broader range of fluids, these fluorocarbon seals will also operate, continuously at temperatures from -20° to +400 °F. NOTE: If you are not sure of fluid/seal compatibility, please refer, to the fluid compatibility chart in the appendix or contact our Engineering Department.

This seal, molded from high grade 55D polyurethane, may retrofit the PS1800 seals, considering all dimensions are comparable. This seal material, with a high degree of memory, stretches over the piston and snaps in the groove for immediate assembly. These seals also feature low friction and high abrasion and extrusion resistance which helps to eliminate assembly damage. Piston diameter “I” dimensions are given for pistons without wear rings.

This U-cup style buffer ring offers an asymmetric sealing lip profile, chamfered sealing edges, and pressure relieving capabilities to prevent inner pressure entrapment when employed in a tandem sealing system. This rod buffer seal is designed to absorb impact pressure fluctuations under high-load conditions thus increasing the life of the primary seal.
